- Collect details on your purchases from our eStore partners
- Apply to you insights gained about groups of members from trusted third parties
Full details of Aeroplan’s Privacy Policy are available for review at any time and we encourage members to review the policy regularly.
This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how Aeroplan Inc., powered by RewardOps Inc. (“RewardOps” or “we”) collects and processes information from members and users of the Aeroplan Shopping Button we provide.
Should we need additional personal information for any reason, we will update you and re-confirm your permission. Also, to the extent that RewardOps Aeroplan Shopping Button incorporates links to other websites (like retailers), please be aware that we do not own, operate, or manage them, and they have their own controlling privacy policies that you should review.
The data we collect and why we collect it
In order to provide relevant earn-points opportunities to members who have downloaded the Aeroplan Shopping Button, we collect information that you share with us when you use our technology.
When you become a member of Aeroplan, you may share personal information during the registration process with us; this includes your first and last name, email address, home address, language preference, date of birth, location, and phone number.
When you download the Aeroplan Shopping Button, our partners may collect data from you including the device you are using, the device’s unique ID, browser type, your IP address and general location.
When you log in to the Aeroplan Shopping Button, it collects and stores your Aeroplan number, your first and last name, membership status, Aeroplan retail partner website links and the shopping history of Aeroplan retail partners you may visit. When you purchase from one of Aeroplan’s participating partners, that company provides us information about the transaction, such as transaction date, price, products purchased and any additional information you may have provided, in order to help support you earning points for those purchases. The information you share with the participating partner is also used to fulfil your online order.
When you contact us, we collect information about that interaction, such as when and why you contacted us.
We collect and share your personal information only with approved Aeroplan Partners
In order to ensure your data is not used inappropriately, we do not sell the data to any third party. We only share it with approved Aeroplan partners so that we can better understand your preferences, needs, and interests to develop and enhance our offers, promotions, benefits, contests, products and services and make them more relevant to you.
We may also send you offers about accumulation and redemption opportunities, benefits, products and services related to Aeroplan and our partners that are most likely of interest to you. This may include advertisements on the Aeroplan Shopping Button (for more information, see aircanada.com Cookies and Tracking Technologies Policy).
Use of cookies and similar technologies
Most online services today utilize cookies, pixel markers and other tags to collect and store some of the information detailed in this policy. These technologies allow us to provide the features and functionality of the Aeroplan Shopping Button and appropriately alert our users to partner opportunities.
Deleting or changing your data
You have the right to access and correct your personal information.
By logging into your member account, or by contacting Aeroplan Contact Centre (see part 9 “How can you ask questions or raise concerns about privacy?”), you can view and edit your profile information, review your recent transaction history, and modify your communication preferences.
For any personal information that you cannot directly access or correct via these methods, you can make a formal access or correction request by contacting our Privacy Office (see part 9 “How can you ask questions or raise concerns about privacy?”). In that case, we will respond to your access or correction request within a reasonable timeframe (but no later than 30 days from your request) pursuant to applicable laws.
If your personal information in our records is inaccurate or incomplete, we will amend the personal information as required. Where appropriate, we will transmit the amended information to third parties having access to your personal information.
It is your responsibility to provide and maintain accurate and complete information.
As most of the data described in this policy is stored on your own computer’s browser storage, logging out of the Aeroplan Shopping Button will delete any previously stored data. However, any purchases you may have initiated will have data stored with the individual retail partner and any information that is returned from our partners to us.
If you would like to delete your profile or personal information, you can request that of us through emailing [email protected]. We will delete any personal information we store provided we have no legal or compliance obligations to meet or maintain. We may also continue to store any transactional data and anonymize your Personally Identifying Information in order to meet the deletion requirements and governance obligations.
Policy Changes
We may from time to time change or update our policies as required by law, compliance or as changes to technologies become available. We will notify you of any changes and ensure that you have an opportunity to accept those changes should they occur.
